Durability of the 640 Airweight?

I was under the impression they only made the 640 in steel?

I have a 642 airweight that I've carried for 8 years, everywhere I go. I've got just over 4K rounds through it, no flame cutting on the strap, no erosion at the firing pin bushing.

Simple little gun, super easy to carry. Apex carry springs and pin, 3 or 4 good holsters, some speed strips, good grips, and you'll have a nice little package that will stay with you for life.

I would guess that is probably what he is talking about. The 640 is an all steel 357, I still pack one of those heavy things every now and then. I picked up a 642 last year to have something lighter. Nice for carrying everyday, shoots just as well as the 640. I have only put about 700-800 through it so far, but no issues yet. One of my co-workers has been carrying one for about the last 8 years, no issues other than he's beaten the finish up in a couple areas.
