  1. I'm not sure what you mean by upgrade. Depending what type of pistols you have do you mean you intend to replace them for better ones? There is generally not a lot you can do with Airsoft guns. As long as it still operating near to where it was when you first bought it, you kind of got what you got. You can upgrade sights on some of them I run red dots on several mine also use a laser for some practice as my carry guns are Smith and Wesson bodyguards in 380 with lasers. Are you training with a timer if not I recommend the CED Airsoft timer it's what I use, timers are one way to judge performance.. Then I shoot almost all reactive targets on the move. I also set up steel challenge runs to keep my shot timing up. I don't know if this helps maybe if you clarify I might have another suggestion or two. In the meantime good luck take care and catch you later. Kennedy a.k.a. falcor
  2. Never competed with glocks except in the Police Olympics as you had to shoot your duty gun. On of the years I won I carried a Sig 220 in 45 acp, great gun, still have it and is my choice for serious business if I cant take a ar15 or a shotgun. My glock was a 22 and I carried a 26 as a boot gun. In PPC i used a compensated 1911 38 super which has more power and shoots flatter. If a glock is what you carry then you need a glock to practice with, remember to look into the ced airsoft timer as it keeps ya honest and shows improvement results.Good luck. jk
  3. This has been my main practice pistol since I retired from competition and police work. It was also my secret weapon that I used to keep my hand/eye coordination up after I retired completely. I also have a pair of WE Dragons for my wife and I to shoot against one another on steel challenge targets . Very useful tools as I can shoot in the back yard as the mood to shoot occurs. Do not just use airsoft for dry fire. Smaller targets at shorter range will give you the sight picture and will require competitive technique to get the confirmation of hits and will only improve your speed and accuracy. Do not listen to the self appointed "experts" on dry fire only. Just pulling the trigger wont make you more accurate without the hits. Pick up a ced airsoft timer to enhance you practice results. Both of the pistols I mentioned use green gas but I only use propane, much cheaper and to keep you from trying to watch the airsoft bbs use only black .25s which will be invisible. The we dragons shoot faster due to the longer barrels about 400 fps on my crono and cycle faster due to a split slide. https://www.evike.com/products/31520/ KJW Xcelerator 6" Hi-CAPA Full Metal Airsoft Gas Blowback Gun Dimension: 1198g / 12 x 8 x 2 (in) Magazine Capacity: 31+1. 4. Good morning Sir. When he was John Kennedy I am retired law enforcement officer and also I retired I PSC competitor. I also hold a concealed weapons permit, I carry anytime I leave the home. I'm also 75 years old and going to the range regularly is somewhat problematical for me. So I do use a small framed semiautomatic Airsoft to keep my hand eye coordination up to par. Do not scrimp on the cost of the Airsoft pistol as the pistol must be accurate out to at least 30 feet. 2H accuracy is acceptable. I have a regular set of timed drills I'd run through every couple weeks if I don't shoot for any other reason. I also have a laser on my training pistol as I carry a Smith & Wesson 380 with built-in laser. If there's time to engage it it will be invaluable in lowlight situations so you should practice with a laser if you intend to have one. It is certainly well and my confidence level of being able to protect myself and my family is high. Hopefully it will never be an issue or necessary. Attached picture part of my yard showing the type targets I use.
  5. I have a pair of these one for me one for my wife. Mine has a red dot holographic sight and I have used it for many years. I like this model for two reasons one of the longer barrel generates more velocity on the pellet and the skeletonized slide reciprocates much more quickly. Trigger pull and handling are close to my 1911 type 38 super competition gun. I have found the gun more than accurate for my drills in the backyard. All distances have been reduced to one third of standard as have all targets. Everything else is the same. I'm a 74-year-old ex-cop X competitor and concealed weapon carrier. I use a Look-alike double-action Airsoft weapon similar to what I carry. Almost all of my self-defense practice these days is done with the Airsoft pistol as I would practice much less having to go to a range and shoot . I shoot at least weekly with the Airsoft pistol as I enjoy it quite a bit. I have no experience with any of the Beretta type competition pistols but I read good things about them and if you're looking for more velocity you might consider going to pistols that will handle both CO2 and green gas. I also use propane conversion as green gas is much more expensive and not more effective. Hope this helps John a Kennedy retired from almost everything but shooting

    "laser"

I have lasers on my two carry guns, S&W 380 bodyguards. The laser appears just over my front sight and will produce a point of aim hit to 25 ft. I don't require more as I feel that any confrontation I have will most likely be 3 to 5 ft or less. I am 74 now and an x police weapons and tactics training officer. I have dealt with people at gunpoint and believe my conclusions are valid. If I get a chance to sight on target fine, if not and not in body contact with the assailant then the laser printing on any part of the subjects body will do fine for a first shot of more to come. I practice with a airsoft semi auto. This is the smallest pistol I could find that has both a double action/single action and blowback and seems to be accurate to 30 ft. It also has a under barrel rail for a laser. I practice on ipsc type targets with restricted hit areas and steel challenge type targets at reduced ranges all run on a timer made for airsoft. I hope this has been a help and if you would like more info and or photos of targets contact me at ppps@cox.net. John Kennedy
  7. Hi guys I'm John Kennedy and I'm from Mesa Arizona. I have periodically been on this forum trying to promote ISPC type Airsoft pistol and rifle competition. I just like to bring to your attention that someone is putting on matches in the Arizona area of exactly this type. The organization is shoot right run by Rob Potter. Spent some time with Rob showing them what I have been trying to do and he has gone out there and done it. You can now go to and IASS match and take nothing but your entry fee. The weapons to compete and ammunition will be supplied. You can also bring your own weapons as long as you're in the compliance with the basic rules of this competition venue. Much like real steel and you can find videos of some of the different matches that have been put on recently. The best one that made a video was the one that was done last year down in Yuma. I hope the management of the Airsoft forum will take a few minutes to contact Rob Potter at shoot right as I believe this will be a growing sport for our members and a great place to develop the skills needed for mil Sim operations and competition pratice.. Feel free to contact me at ppps@cox.net any time for links or any other information.IASS can only improve our sport. I leave you with a link to airgun Depot that will tell you little more about the IASS program. http://www.airgundepot.com/iass-international-air-shooting-sports-article.html
  8. Hi, my name is John Kennedy also by this form as falcor. I have posted my attempt at making air soft targets both successful and otherwise in an attempt to instigate some interest in Airsoft IPS C type competition. I am pleased to say that I discovered a match in Tempe which I attended last Saturday at CAASES/shoot right education and training center. They have a nice facility with professionally set up targets and a trained RO. I can definitely recommend facility and you will most likely find me there blazing away. There have been discussions about setting up an Airsoft three gun match. I hope you will forgive my endorsement of this business but I certainly would like to endorse any open Airsoft competition. Hope I will see you there. Falcor a.k.a. John Kennedy PPPS@COX.NET
  9. I have the specs for the reduced size and distance and if you haven't got it yet send me a note to ppps@cox.net
  10. The best type of backstop, he's using a large box. Put in a angle piece of almost anything that the BB can't penetrate. This will deflect the BB down to the bottom of the box and any sort of soft material will stop the bounce. You can clip your targets to nylon string for fishing line strung across the front of the target. Size of the backstop is simply limited by the size of your area. Let me know what you work out. falcor
  11. I am very glad to hear that someone is thinking along the same lines that I have been preaching to the choir about. If you will follow on this topic will find my comments, I'm trying to interest others in airsoft ipsc, idpa, and steel challenge competitions. The target size and the type of targets can be scaled for perspective and shorter distances that most airsoft pistols and rifles will be accurate at. If if you were in my area we would be trying to work something out right now. If you ever get to mesa Arizona make sure you let me know. I generally have three to four stages of setup in the backyard and any given time. I can't seem to generate any interest in airsoft competition in this area. I put up fliers with my e-mail address at a couple of airsoft stores. No takers. I know there are people in my area who practice with airsoft, but they just don't seem interested in joining or helping me start a competition group. That being said, I still am working on making better targets and stages. My latest project is to put together a two gun stage. I'd make it three gun if they ever start building a decent shotgun. If anybody out there has heard of an airsoft shotgun that shoots more than three rounds at a time I'll probably buy one and start working out stages for that and we'll be ready to go three gun. Good luck on your project. I hope you can find others in your area to interest. I have posted some links and some photographs of targets setups that I have. If you would like any ideas send me a note and we will compare target and stage design. falcor
  12. I have a bunch of different targets setups but not much in the way of traps. If you set up a box behind your targets with any kind of an angled deflector made up of about anything that will direct the bbs to the bottom and anything that will deaden the bounce will retain most of the BBS. Unless you're the worlds worst shot continued bb strikes in a concentrated area will wear it out quickly. Take a look at my site as I have photographs of my many target setups. http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/MesaACC / Hope this helps, and I hope you enjoy shooting are airsoft as much as I do. jk
  13. Great if you can afford the cost aka falcor
  14. Regarding the use of air soft for ipsic practice I need to supply a little background. I am a 68 year old ex-weapons instructor ex-cop ex ipsic competitor ex PPC competitor. To put it bluntly at this age I have a lot of X's. I stumbled into air soft first getting an m4 duplicate of my Calvary arms m4 that I converted to 22 rim fire to compete at 22 ipsic matches. That practice improved the rifle part of my game and I enjoyed it so much I got a pistol. I have a KJW with a long slide and a holographic sight. The weight and feel is similar to my 38 super. I have been working on building reactive targets that will work with air soft and am reasonable happy with the result. If you have the money BAM air soft targets are the way to go. If not get out the saw and drill and with a little work you can almost do as good. I have downloaded some photos of my targets on this site and I will be glad to answer any questions about my creations good or bad. As far as times, I have gotten faster. I have not been shooting for some time due to the expense. In my day I used to shoot 2 to 300 rounds per practice, and I've tried to practice at least once a week. My retirement income cannot not contend with that kind of expense, but I can get 4000 BBs and two cans of propane for less than $20.00. I only wish that I had air soft back when I was actually competing. I would have made a lot more people uncomfortable or at least they would've had to practice a lot more. I am not sure how much more competition I will engage in, but I have done more shooting in the last year than I have done and the prior five and I am a lot happier about it. Hope this has been out some help. If anyone if is interested in some backyard ipsic in the Mesa area give me a shout. John Kennedy akafalcor
  15. you can tape plane cardboard targets with scotch magic mending tape. Stuff yealds to new hits but is invisable at any distence. It is what I use on my El Presidente stage. The tape does not give an aiming point on shot up targets like masking tape does. Dont think it would work with larger holes on regular Ipsic targets. jk
