Merlin Orr
Bought a thousand dollars worth of .308 ammo from "Clever business name euphemism redacted" the other day. It is advertised as lead core Milsurp.. Well...It is lead core with a bi metal cover that sticks to a magnet. I am doubting very much that any matches will allow it to be shot at steel targets. Basically a thousand bucks wasted. Edited January 23, 2010 by Nik Habicht
hopalong
Merlin, I'll add a couple of here heres to that !!!! I solved the problem by getting some "good" bullets and mark them as such (blue stripe on primer) and use the others on paper targets. Good luck, IF you decide you don't want to mess with them let me know and we'll do something at the High Plains Shotgun match. Hopalong
M ammo
I tested some Silver Bear Soft point,, they stick to the Magnet, I shot one at my own 500B steel,, it put a grain of sand mark on the plate. so Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm other so called lead bullets have left bigger marks. Bi metal needs more testing,,, If all of the rifle targets are paper. no harm would be done,, its the MD call. Jim M ammo
D.Hayden
Some ranges disallow it for the possibility of sparks and starting fires too. I do like the description of the 'store'...
