158gr in 9mm revolver

I've used the search engine, so please don't flame me. I'm looking to try 158 rn lead sized .358 in my super revolver that i've carmonized to shoot 9mm fed cases. I surmize that the load data listed for 38sc brass will be appropriate for this combo as well? Should the oal be as long as i can get out of the bullet? Any input is gratefully appretiated

How would you like 160g round nose lead for your gun. I purchased some from thebulletworks.net I called them and they sized then .358 and had them ready for me in a week. There bullets are really hard and quality. The bullets with Solo 1000 and very little bullet smoke.

I've been loading 160 and 170 grain .358 Billy Bullets in my 686x6 38 Super. They shoot just fine.

Loading as long as possible will lower the pressure in your gun, I loaded some 158 RNL for my XD using 231 and was very pleased with the results although I had to resize them to 356 to get the gun to run reliably. My AOL was 1.200" I use the same OAL for 38SC loads in my 627. I have had good success with 3.2 to 3.8 grns of red dot using plated bullets as well. I found some old cast bullet data for the 9mm with 158 grain lead loads in an old Lyman manual I have, it lists a starting load as follows with an OAL of 1.169

3.0 grains for bullseye with a max of 3.5 869 to 961 FPS

3.0 grains Red Dot with a max of 3.6 858 to 963 fps

3.5 grains unique with a max of 4.5 883 to 1039 fps

3.6 grains Herco with a max of 4.6 840 to 1010 fps

I just recently aquired a 627 and 686 in 38 Super. Since I have lots of Berry's 158 grain plated round nose bullets, that is what I am using. I also use 231 as much as possible. I am still working on a major load for the 686 but it will be around 5.5 grains of 231. I have settled on a minor load with the 627, of 3.8 grains of 231 and the 158 grain Berry's bullet. The minor load came out at 813 fps average in my 627, for 128 pf. I am loading both loads to 1.3" OAL.

I'm loading 160 grain cast Lyman 358311 bullets in 9x19mm for use in my pistols. Its a nice, soft recoiling load that makes IDPA 125,000 PF.

3.4 grains of W231: Ave. 838 fps, 13.81 SD, 132404PF

4.2 grains of HS-6: Ave. 801 fps, 17.36 SD, 126584PF

4.5 grains of HS-6: Ave. 875 fps, 15.87 SD, 138355PF

All the numbers were with a Beretta 92 Centurion 4 1/4" 9x19mm. I don't see any reason the same loads wouldn't work in a revolver, though they might have velocity loss due to the cylinder gap.
