Patrick Sweeney
OK, I have a .40 Super, and dies, and ammo, but never got around to loading. Which was mildly embarrassing, when someone recently contacted me, asking for a source on .40 Super loading data. Anyone seen published data? A loading manual that has some? The Triton site is now long-gone.

MarkCO
My article is on Burkett: http://www.mattburkett.com/index.php?view=...t&Itemid=85 I have shot about 1500 rounds of .40 Super and I have about 1500 loaded rounds left. I still have a few factory loads left as well. Here is some data I got direct from Tony. The numbers across the top are velocity: 40 Super Load Data - Compiled By Tony Rumore, Tulsa, OK 4/98 Primer - Federal 210 Case - SL 45WM RF Pistol: 5" Schuetzen Pistol Works Matchmaster OAL - 1.250" Bullet - 180gr Powder 1150 1200 1250 1300 1350 1400 1450 1500 Viht-N350 8.2 8.7 9.2 9.7 Max IMR-800X 8.9 9.5 10.1 10.7 Max H110 15.1 15.9 16.7 17.5 18.3 Max Capacity Pwr Pistol 8.2 8.7 9.2 9.7 10.2 10.7 Max AA#9 12.1 12.8 13.5 14.2 14.9 15.6 16.3 17.0 Max AA#7 11.3 11.8 12.3 12.8 13.3 13.8 14.3 14.8 Max 40 Super Load Data - Compiled By Tony Rumore, Tusla, OK 4/98 Primer - Federal 210 Pistol: 5" Schuetzen Pistol Works Matchmaster Case - Star Line 45 Win Mag Re-Form OAL - 1.250" Bullet - Hornady 200gr XTP Powder 1050 1100 1150 1200 1250 1300 1350 1400 Viht-N350 7.4 7.9 8.4 8.9 Max IMR-800X 8.0 8.5 9.1 9.7 Max Pwr Pistol 7.5 8.0 8.5 9.0 9.5 Max H110 13.0 13.8 14.6 15.4 16.2 17.0 Max Capacity AA#9 10.8 11.6 12.4 13.2 14.0 14.8 15.6 Max AA#7 10.2 10.7 11.2 11.7 12.2 12.7 13.2 13.7 Max My Loads used Starline Brass and Winchester Primers (WLR). These were the most accurate loads from my Briley 6" barrel in a STRONG 1911 with a 24# recoil spring. 180 grain Montana Gold JHP, 10.0 gr Power Pistol, 1360 fps. 180 grain Hornady XTP, 16.2 grains AA#9, 1490 fps. 160 grain WestCoast Plated, 12.0 grains of 800x, 1350 fps. I found the 200 grain XTPs did not hold together for a hunting load and as such I went with 180s. At the time, Hornady 200s were rated to 1150 fps while the 180s were rated to 1450 fps. I've shot an antelope, several deer and an elk and the 180 XTPs performed very well. Feel free to drop me a line if you have any questions. Patrick Sweeney
Thanks. I'd found the second whipple web page, but hadn't gone down to the one you've listed first. I mentioned it in one of my 1911 books, but only shot factory ammo there. The plan then was a Vol 3, with reloading data, but that got sidetracked when the the publisher decided there were other titles of more-pressing importance.
