Cracked barrel a common issue?

FYI, I called SV and sent the gun in. Based on the wear on the gun, Brandon estimated about 40,000 rds down the tube. (I bought the gun used, and apparently the guy I bought it from got it used too according to Brandon's service records) He was not able to replace the barrel at no charge due to its use, but he did offer me a DRASTIC discount on installation, they call it the Charity Repair Pricing. I think it is reasonable considering the use of the gun, I guess. I really appreciated him talking with me for over a half hour on the phone last night to answer all of my questions

Now I just have to decide if I want to go AET or standard riffling, TiN coated or not, and 5.0" or 5.4". Decisions, decisions.... If anyone wants to weight in their opinion I have another thread going for that:
