wgnoyes
Anyone using this yet or know anything about it? I know that Dell and Lenovo are starting to make laptops with the Clear modem built in.
p99shooter
Not using it, but it is based on 802.16, or Wi-Max. It's a new wireless protocol for high-speed that will supposedly offer download speeds around 100 Mbps. Now that the DTV conversion is completed, a lot of telecomm companies are buying up the old UHF/VHF spectrum spaces to provide this kind of service. It was originally designed for back-haul applications, but client connectivity works too.
kimel
Same thing as ClearWire I believe. Yet another Craig McCaw company. It works but is not everywhere and customer service leaves a lot to be desired from what some of my staff have told me. Not available where I live. Duane Thomas
Two of my friends have Clearwire. One of them told me, "Never get Clearwire. Their business practices as dishonest and their service is worse than shit." The other told me, "Never get Clearwire. The service constantly goes out, and when you call them they're like, 'What do you expect us to do about it?'" That was enough for me: no Clearwire in my future.
