Duane Thomas
I tested the Vang Comp system for an article several years ago by patterning a Remington 870 both before and after sending it to be Vang Comped. Recoil was severely less, and pattern size much improved, post-VC. I'm a fan.
Bob Hostetter
Actually the Bar Sto shotgun barrels are designed to reproduce the internal deminsions of the Vang Comp system but are not the same thing. The barrels are machined from bar stock, the internal deminsions are cut with a single reamer, and the barrel walls are much thicker. They are available in several different barrel lengths, and with or without porting. Everything except heat treating is done in house which allows for much improved quality control. Chuck Anderson
I'm not sure that Vang Comp barrel's would be a good idea for 3-Gun. I had an 11-87 barrel vang comped as a tactical gun 7-8 years ago. I used it for 3 gun for a couple years after that without much luck. Light recoil but I couldn't hit a dang thing. Finally patterned the gun and found out that with just about everything the patterns were only about 5-7 inches...at 25 yards. It's like shooting a rifle not an SG. Nik Habicht
If I remember correctly, Kelly Neal said the same thing a couple of years ago in response to my question. Basically his take was to use the Vang barrels for tactical applications and to use something else for 3-gun or shotgun sports....
