Give me a good starting load for my S&W 610 w/ 6.5in barrel

I looked in the 40/10mm reloading sub-forum and didn't find a lot. So if any of you revolver shooters are shooting 40 cal - 200gr bullets I would love to hear what you're loading and what velocity its making. I would especially love to hear your load if your using Titegroup.

Thanks in advance

6.5" 610,, 4.7 TG with Berry 180 FP OAL 1.200". 169 at last Area match

That's about the load I was using when I was loading Berry's 180 RN but I have this box of 2250pcs of MG 200gr CMJ and a bunch of Titegroup I would like to use up. From looking at Hodgdons website and what little other data I could find that uses Titegroup and 200gr bullets I think if I load to roughly 10mm OAL 1.25-1.26 (I believe I will have enough bullet with the long 200gr bullet to still get a good seat and crimp even at the length in a 40S&W case) that about 4.2gr of Titegroup should give me about a 171PF. I was hoping someone would have used a similar load in their 610 and could give me some confirming data (powder charge and velocity) actually fired in a 610.

Thanks

Ditto what hdgun said, find a chrono.

And give the board some time, sure folks will chime in with numerous recipe's

I have shot a bunch of tightgroup in 38 cal revo's, didn't really like it.

I'll check my data tonight (hopefully  ) I must have some 10mm TG loads.

I've been using clays and it shoots very soft, did a side by side test with 3

powders once and all loads were 168-171 pf but the clays load felt the best

and strangly enough it was the higher PF !

Okay, sorry I took so long and maybe your all set,

but since I made the pdf I'm attaching it anyways :roflol:

The attached is data from 2 different 6.5 inch 610's using both 40 S&W brass and 10mm brass.

10mm brass gives better long range accuracy (+35 yrds) but I have about two 5 gallon bucket

fulls of Win 40 S&W brass so I use that. Good enough for USPSA accuracy 'till those 50 yrd shots

show up.

As you'll see from the data it looks like you might want to start around 4.0-4.2 and ya might get up

to 4.4 grns, "all depends on the gun" as they say.

As always...you this data at your own risk !

Good luck, but you might find Clays softer shooting.
