open17
Series 70 Colt 9mm. Bought it used, appears to have been professionally built. Very tight slide to frame fit. Bought some Wilson ETM mags, and ran into a little problem. The right feedlip runs into the bottom of the slide . Can not get the mag seated with the slide forward, seats with one finger with the slide back. Top of feed lip shined up, shiny scratch on bottom of slide. Works fine with all other mags. SO--- A. File a bit off of the mag feed lip. Not at all in favor of this one. B. Modify the locking notch on the ETM's so the mag locks in a little lower in the frame. C. Set the slide up in the mill and cut the bottom of the slide .015 or so deeper so the feedlip on the mag clears. I'm leaning toward C. Any reason not to do it, or other suggestions? HSMITH
I'd cut on a $30 mag before I cut on a couple hundred dollar slide that works with everything else. I would NOT relocate the mag catch slot on the mag, odds are it is pretty darn close to where it needs to be. Or, you could just use PowerMags. Aircooled6racer
Hello: Send those mags back. Wilson had a run of 9mm ETM mags that the mag release notch was in the wrong place. We had a couple of guys that bought the mags with the same problem you are describing. They sent them back and were told that they had a bad run of mags. Hope this helps. Thanks, Eric
HSMITH
Good to know Eric, was it only 9mm mags or were there other calibers too? I have been hearing that the ETM mags are super nice but haven't bought any yet.....

I have (or, Benny has for me) filed the lip on mags for a couple of guns to address the same thing you refer to. Not sure why some guns require it and others don't.... On my Fat body .45 every mag required work -cutting down the lips. Solved the problem though..... Be a lot simpler if the mags are indeed the problem as Eric has related. open17
Be a lot simpler if the mags are indeed the problem as Eric has related. Yup. Just sent an Email to Wilson. If it's a known problem they should make it right. ETA: Reply from Nick at Wilson. "Please send them back and I will replace them with new ASAP."
