.357 Sig Seating & Crimping

I just loaded my first batch of .357 sig ammo yesterday. I decided to seat and crimp in two stages instead of one. I was just trying to be careful and get it right. Do you guys think this is an unneccessary step or a good idea with this particular round?

For .357 Sig, it is especially important to seat bullet in two separate stages. Long 160-180gr bullets usually used for major PF are much longer than the bottleneck case neck.

Short neck make start pressure much lower. Specially, when compared to situation where whole bullet bearing surface would be contacting case, like when you have straight walled case.

Generally, it is much more difficult to maintain even start pressure from shot to shot with .357 Sig. Even a slight bulge in neck (=often caused by 1-stage bullet seating) can result in huge pressure / barrel time / muzzle velocity variation.

Shortly : I recommend 2-stage bullet seating :)
