RangerTrace
I don't reload and I am about to purchase another case of ammo. I have been using factory reloads from the Hunting Shack which were 180 grain/985 fps TMJ bullets. I have had zero problems them. I noticed that for a little more money I can get 155 grain bullets/1150 fps. Which would be better for USPSA? Which do you think would have less felt/perceived recoil? I have to order by the case and I can't afford to make a mistake. Should I stick with what has been working or try the lighter bullets? I noticed that Atlanta Arms only offers the 180 grain rounds. Matt Cheely
I would not shoot any factory loading that was lighter than 180gr. It's going to be very snappy.
Jman
Yep. Factory ammo with light bullets are pounders. Example. Winchester Ranger 155gr JHP With the exception of the WWB value pak 165gr grain stuff. Very soft but just makes major in 5" guns. I'd stick with the 180's you're running now. Graham Smith
Which would be better for USPSA? Atlanta Arms makes both major and minor .40 loads. The good thing about this is that they are basically custom loads, designed to make a power factor without going way over. For example, why shoot factory ammo with a 185 PF when all you need is 170? Gary1911A1
I'm lucky enough to own a Springfield 90 Series 1911 in .40 which has a fast barrel in it. I find the Winchester 165gr. to be soft shooting in it and it makes 170PF plus so try some in your pistol. Good luck.
