huesos
I'm looking to start loading 9mm luger and will probably be doing fairly large quantities. Funny, when I talk to the guys at Dillon, they try to steer me to the 650. I'd really be intersted in the opinion of experienced 9mm reloaders on this question. My first 1050 in 45 was such an improvement over the 650, it's hard to describe, even though the one I bought was junk and had to be competely rebuilt. I just wonder if the small size of the 9mm case introduces another variable I'm not aware of.
Loves2Shoot
It works great for .38 super so I can't see why it wouldn't with 9mm also.
Nik Habicht
Every 1050 owner I've talked to swears by the machine --- so if you can afford it, get it. I'm very happy with my 650, but if I can find a used 1050 at some point in the future, I'll buy one. I hate the time spent on reloading.... Bill Nesbitt
I load 9mm on a 1050 and love it. I also have a 550 and have never loaded on a 650. I like that the case is primed on the down stroke and the primer depth can be adjusted. I would like to have a different 1050 for every calibe I load. j1b
What? There's another press besides a 1050 If you have the cash then I don't think there is a question. I've loaded hundreds of thousands of rounds on my 1050 - Calibers include 9x21, 9x23, 9x25, 9 Largo, 9 Super comp, 45 ACP and 40 S&W. I won't lie - changing calibers is a bit of a pain in the ass (especially going from a small pistol primer round to a large) but once set up correctly the things are like energizer bunnies - they go and go and go. As is obvious - I love mine! JB
j1b
Bill, I bought several tool heads - that makes the conversions much easier. Just an FYI. JB
Bill Nesbitt
JB, Thanks. I used to load 45 on the 1050 then switched to 9mm only. I use the 550 for all other calibers because it is easier to switch. I will probably get more toolheads for the 1050 in the future. Loves2Shoot
J1B You mean you DON'T "have to" have a toolhead for each caliber I would hate to set it up from scratch
Patrick Sweeney
One huge advantage of the 1050 over the 650 is the automatic primer crimp swage station. Especially in 9mm, where you could run into large amounts of crimped primers vs. other calibers.
