    Duster Gas

If you are getting leaks upon filling it is because you are not adding a drop of silicone oil to the plastic tube on the duster gas can prior to filling.
  2. My older 1050 consistently bends this bolt. I watch the tension on the bolt insertion. I lube the bearing on a regular basis. In my opinion, this part is not a heavy enough diameter. Does any one know of a fix for this ongoing problem?
  3. When you say 'a loose fit barrel bushing', does this indicate that it needs to be replaced afterward with a bushing that has been hand fit?
  4. While on the topic of Kart easy fit barrels, I would like to ask if it is possible to fit accurately with hand tools only.
  5. Have you heard whether this new grip module will be available in a larger diameter? Somehow I think this may be too much to hope for.
  6. The two Kuhnhausen shop manuals on the 1911 probably contain 1000X as much information as could be put into a DVD. A picture is worth a 1000 words, to me anyway!! Viewed the Building a High Cap Competition 1911 Disk #3164 A & B last night and HIGHLY recommend them....Gene Shuey is the smith in the video and he take s 2011 from start to finish in the 2 disk set....run time for both disk is a little over 5 hours. He is very detailed and takes time to explain how and what he is doing. Performs a little lathe work but also shows you how to stone the slide/frame to fit...He covers EVERYTHING in this set...I highly recommend if you are going to attempt to build or just want to learn the workings of a 2011..... Here is the link http://smartflix.com/store/video/171/Build...e-Ultimate-1911 It is disk 3 & 4 and they rent for 9.99 each, return shipping envelope is provided. I briefly viewed the other 2 disks and they are about building a SINGLE STACK so I lost interest QUICKLY Randal I have the original of this on VHS tape. The procedure only includes fitting a bull barrel. To me, this was a disappointment. I wonder if the series was upgraded in later versions.
  7. Good tip, I'm going to check that on the next disassembly.
  8. I have one Para and one SV both in 45 that are becoming more difficult to reassemble. The full length guide rods wind up protruding past the point for the bushing to turn once the slide stop pin is in. Neither of these guns did this previously. After numerous attempts, I can get the guide rod to settle into it's proper position. Anyone know the cause of this condition?
  9. Eric, I was expecting to have to make cuts to the internal slot and the overall height. Does Caspian produce a slide that comes dimensionally set up for the Para frame?
  10. Yes the reason for doing the work is to replace the original cast slide that is very loose. The frame is fine after a lot of rounds, probably in the tens of thousands. I don't count. The reason for replacing the slide is to give a lasting platform for a hand fit barrel. It seems that squeezing the slide and then fitting a new barrel would be a waste. I am considering doing the work my self.
  11. I would like to have a new slide fitted to a Para P14 frame. I have a feeling that there may be one make that will work better than others. The final aim is to increase accuracy so this slide should be able to work with a fitted barrel like the Kart. Any opinions?
  12. Extremeshot, I would like to ask a question. How did you build the tool that sqeezes the slide back into the proper dimension? Would this be usable to tighten an older investment cast slide on a Para? At what intervals are you applying pressure along the length of the slide.
  13. In attempting to shoot Bullseye with a 45 and typical 200 swc loads, I find it difficult to score using the classic method of taking the stance and lowering the sights down on to the target. Some how I seem to need to push the gun into the sight picture to deal with the moment of recoil. 10 meter air pistol is completely different but if I am going to use it to train to shoot the 1911, I want to use the same technique. Am I missing something obvious here?
  14. Which frame / slide combinations have worked best with the Barsto hand fit barrel that you mention? Have you ever used one with a Para frame? The Barsto seems to be designed with enough material to be actually fit by cutting as does the Kart. Do you find the end result to be pretty much equal?
  15. Did the Shuemann barrel come designed to be fit for an accurate lock up? The one in my SVI looks kind of like a drop in. STI slide, Schuemann barrel, .40 cal. Worked for me when I could get pre-bans in NY. Changing caliber might not be so good for you in California. Original slide was not particularly loose. Tried Caspian, and STI slides. Neither much tighter than the original. Had to lower the rails a lot to get the fit I wanted. Very scary. Nothing drop in about that.
  16. There have been some experienced individuals on this thread so far, so I'd like to ask which slide/ barrel combination would be best to fit to a Para P14 frame. The original slide is loose from quite a few rounds but takes a good trigger job so I thought I might save it and try for a truly accurate rebuild.
  17. Hey Raul, Are you comming out to shoot at Piru anymore? I need to get some custom Glock info and you are the authority. Chuck ( the tall thin guy who presents less target area standing sideways)
  18. I'm looking to start loading 9mm luger and will probably be doing fairly large quantities. Funny, when I talk to the guys at Dillon, they try to steer me to the 650. I'd really be intersted in the opinion of experienced 9mm reloaders on this question. My first 1050 in 45 was such an improvement over the 650, it's hard to describe, even though the one I bought was junk and had to be competely rebuilt. I just wonder if the small size of the 9mm case introduces another variable I'm not aware of.
  19. I'd like to see if anyone knows what the times are for stage three of the classifier on a total score of 88 or less. It seems like stage three is the bulk of the total score.

    Air Soft

I'm trying to find the electronic sensor/timing method used by the Japanese team for airsoft steel challenge training. I know that it has to involve presure sensitive plates linked to a start signal and a timer. Once I find the parts, I'm going to set up steel challenge in my back yard. That's got to be a clear road to improvement. If any one has any info, please post here.
