rhino
I finally received my Bushmaster Superlight Carbine last week. The front sight does not seem to be indexed properly . . . I had to crank my GG&G A2 flip-up almost all the way to the limit of the windage adjustment (to the right) to get on target. I thought it might be the rear sight, but when I put a red dot on it, I didn't have enough windage adjustment to get the dot even close to "sitting" in the front sight post. So clearly something must be done. My current plan is to send it back to Bushmaster, but I'm still steamed because a) I had to wait a long time for the gun and it should never have left the factory like this and c) they initially wanted ME to pay the shipping to get the upper back to them! I know some people actually use a big mallet and whack the front sight tower in the right direction until the front sight comes into the correct orientation with respect to the upper. Somehow that seems a bit too barbaric and I know I'd make a mistake somehow. My FLG is too busy to mess with it. Should I whack it? Find another smith? Send it to Bushmaster and just wait some more? Loves2Shoot
Heck use the bigger hammer, it is already broke
Chriss Grube
I've seen a couple BM's that had the same problem. Also seen one where the barrel was way out of whack. Pack it up and ship it back without the hammer whacks!
benny hill
send it back for good & buy a RRA or one of my custom shorty's.
rhino
I dearly want to whack it with a biga** hammer . . . But . . . she already has a name and she's already part of the family. So I can't just ship her off never to return and replace her with something better. Looks like I will send the upper to Bushmaster, though. You'd think that with how often this has happened in the past that they might pay a little closer attention now. Especially on something that is allegedly a "special order" (the A3/flat top version of the Superlight). If RRA had a similar profile barrel available, I would not have hesitated to buy one of theirs! Unfortunately, the closest they could do is an M4-style profile, which would add close to a pound of weight in a 16-inch version.
a-44978
I've been down this road before After a long fight with my AMALIE i sent it to bushmaster and they replaced the gas tube and said they found a leak at the gas block........But it was fixed and to zero it i was all the way to one side After ARMALIE blamed everything but the phase of the moon Bushmaster fixed it! Whew....Rant over, the front gas block assembly is held in place with 2 roll pins (usually solid) and its a miracle that the majority of them zero straight. In othrwords send it back,if you tamper with it and then send it back it gives them a way out of fixin it for ya BM took forever to send my baby too but i love it and it has not burped in 2K plus rounds so far(its a BM Dissipater flat top with flip up front and rear sights)I've since given the other hood prop to a friend who loves it Did i mention don't mess with ARMALIE
