safenate
Just got done with my first range session with the new LW/KMM Glock 17 Open upper and noticed primer smear on all primers. From 115s at 1100 to 115s at 1400 (+P) all show some smear on the Winchester Small Pistol primers in various brass (using 3N37, Bullseye & Powerpistol). This isn't anything to worry about, is it? There were no other signs (flattening). Edited August 19, 2008 by safenate
lcs
First thing is "Small Rifle Primers". They withstand the pressure a little better and require a little less powder. OAL for a glock is 1.150 (If I remember correctly) and with 115gn major loads loaded that short or shorter is cranking out some pressure. You might want to consider 124/125 gr bullet. There is a spread sheet in the forums with a lot of 9 major loads.
Qbert
Primer smear is very common on .40s, but I've rarely seen it on 9mms. Sig pistols seem to be notorious for primer smear, but I can't say that I recall seeing them in a Glock. How'd they print?
