9MM Minor WST load data

jar

Recommended Posts

I've seen a bunch of posts here and other places from people who use WST in 9mm. Winchester/Hodgdon don't provide data for WST in 9mm. I've seen data scattered around in forum posts, but it's hard to know who to believe.

I'm looking for loads for the following bullets:

MGB 124gr JHP

MGB 147gr CMJ

Precision 124gr FP

Precision 147gr FP

Thanks.

I do have some data that I chronoed myself

147 Precision moly fn, 4" conventional rifled barrel Walther P99 3.2 gr WST = 847 fps, 3.6gr = 864fps at 1.110 oal.

147 gr Berry from a 4.25 Nowlin barrel (mine was pretty fast) 1.165 oal 3.7 grs 907 fps

124 gr Berry same 4.25 1.165 oal 4.0 gr = 1023, 4.7 = 1088.

I like WST in my 45, so decided to try it in 9x19.

Glock G34, MG 121 IFP, 1.145" OAL, Fed SP primers, once-fired mixed brass.

WST 4.1 gr., AVG 1026.9 fps, 124 PF

WST 4.3 gr., AVG 1034.2 fps, 125.1 PF

WST 4.5 gr., AVG 1055.4 fps, 127.7 PF

Some more data...

WST 4.7 gr., AVG 1086.2 fps, 131.4 PF (SD=15.1 fps, ES=42.1)

WST 4.9 gr., AVG 1120.3 fps, 135.6 PF (SD=13.6 fps, ES=37.2) - Starts to flatten the primers just a little bit.

147gr Precision Moly bullet

3.4gr WST

920 fps

14.7 sd

135 pf

Smoke was not bad at all with WST, but I had them a touch hot. sd was not great, but livable.

This was a very cold day last Dec. WST is reverse temp sensitive. I would suspect lower velocity and pf around this time of year.

10 rd string:

1039.2 FPS high

983.0 FPS low

SD: 17.8

VERY ACCURATE!

Crono is a PACT II

I am going to clean my gun and shoot a hundred rounds of this today and check to see how dirty it is compared to TG.
