mpolans
I know for a fact (I held one in Germany in 1992, although it might have been a small frame), that Tanfoglio used to make an ambi that was super-wide on both sides and was held together in a fashion different than the current ones. I believe that it had a joint in the middle like most 1911 ambi safeties. It was alot easier for a lefty with small hands to use. Does anyone know where I might find one of these for a large frame Witness?
Neomet
Sorry to say, but I think the only place you will find one is at a custom machinist.
L9X25
There was one being offered that was based on the factory item. They started with a single sided safety and extended the shaft so that it would protrude the opposite side. They then fabricated the right side and held it in place with a tapered pin. I still have my original (still on my gun) but the guy making them is long gone.
mpolans
The thing I'm really trying to avoid is the tapered pin style that EAA is selling now. The width that the pin area adds makes it a lot harder for me to engage and disengage the safety, especially on a large frame gun.
Carlos
Mark call me tomorrow. I bought $100 worth of parts that are likely worth a lot more - I probably have your safety - but call soon - baby's mama due any day now.
