Heavy Metal Only
I just got a para p-14 and the 3 mags that I got are ,well not that great. I shot an indoor match and as I was reloading when you drop one on the floor to put in another, it broke. Is there a better tougher mag base or what do I need? the mags hold 18 rounds and I think they (someone) make an after market one. Who should I call?????? yoshidaex
dawson sells aluminum basepads that hold up well when dropped on hard surfaces.
Jim Rusert
I've got a bunch of Para mags for my P-16 (.40) and have Dawson basepads on all of them. I've dropped them numerous times on concrete range floors, while both loaded with rounds and empty and haven't broken one yet.
wide45
There are no aftermarket mags that are better than original Paras. Most are much worse. Some mags designed for STI/SV/SP have been adapted to work. They can work well, but won't hold as many rounds as factory Para. Para made basepads will not hold 18 rounds of .45. Aftermarket basepads can take 18 rounds. The best pads are probably from Dawson, and Grams. Grams are plastic, and I have seen them break when dropped on concrete. Dawsons are aluminum, they hold up well, but this game can be rough on equipment.

45acp230
uspsa match's ? or idpa...? dawson, and grams are great. but watch your magwell, with a " ice " you have to run 140mm mag, or it will not seat.... ? if your shooting IDPA then is a diff. story... Heavy Metal Only
I shoot uspsa. I have nothing against an idpa match, I just never shot one. Anyway, Dawson thanks all, I'll check into it.
