Building an Airsoft Open Gun

I received a WE Full Metal High CAPA 5.1 airsoft pistol for Christmas. I would like to convert it to be an open gun for practice purposes. I know some of you all have looked into this and/or done it, so I would like some info on where to find specific parts.

Where do I find a comp barrel or do you mount a comp to the existing barrel?

i'm not sure but those companies making replica slides must be paying some sort of royalty. Western Arms got a ton of replica guns available for sale in the US but the para ord models aren't available for us export. i wonder what's the story there.

I can't believe some open gun replicas cost 1500+ usd

I have a 5.1 as well and was thinking the same. I don't see why you would need all the conversion parts though. That "comp" ain't doing anything but looking good. The top link below is parts diagram for the mount (FYI 4000 yen is about $35). I would imagine shipping would suck but, who knows. The second link is info on how to order the mount. The third link is for a red dot that is on sale for $30 , don't know when sale is over. So I figure for around 100 bones you should be set up. Have to find someone to D/T the frame though. Good luck.

is the parts between the WE hi capa 5.1 and WA SV replica guns the same?

If i decide to make a replica of the current open gun i have, i'm gonna try to get the weight as close as possible to the real thing. Though most of the weight in an airsoft is in the mag
