PistolPete
I want to do a trigger job on my Dan Wesson 1911 but was looking for some info online. I was curious if anyone knew of a site that had pics and instructions on how to do this. I was told it was fairly easy to do and I'm mechanically capable of following directions. Thanks in advance, Pete
Flexmoney
It likely is fairly easy to do WRONG. But, I think people should try & learn (then re-try, if it calls for that). Try here: http://www.brownells.com/aspx/NS/GunTech/N...x?p=0&t=1&i=349 Helps to start with good parts!
shred
It's fairly easy to do a decent trigger job if you've got the tools and a bit of practice. Doing a really good one takes much more practice, experience and the right parts. Without tools or experience, it's very easy to make something dangerous. Get a good magnifier and some try-pins along with the jigs so you can really see what's going on. ($10 10x loupes from your local camera-depot work well for this)
PistolPete
Should I attempt to do this on my own or should I just pay someone? I would like to do it myself for the simple gratification I just would be afraid to mess something up.
Flexmoney
PistolPete, You might get better answers if you asked this question over in the gunsmithing section on 1911Forum.com. There will likely be someone on there that has done a trigger job on a Dan Wesson. They will have important details (like if your stock trigger parts are worth polishing, or if they need replaced).
