How much needed to spend to shoot open

Buy a good cheap gun (Glock, XD, et. al.) some basic gear and mags. Shoot Production for about 6 months and figure out if you like the sport first. From there decide which direction you would like to go. Open is not cheap by ANY stretch of the imagination.

Between the pistol, mags, gear and reloading equipment you're into it for a good chunk of change. I love this sport but would never point someone in this direction to start (unless they are just independently wealthy).

[Stage 3]

I'm new to the sport (4 months)and shooting single stack and love it. Thinking about an open gun.

Question 1: Should I wait awhile before I get into the open guns?

Question 2: If I were to get an open gun, what should I buy. I have limited funds and really wonder if I would even know the difference between a 2K gun and a 5k gun. Would I?
