38supPat
Ok so I set up my Dillon for loading .308 Set the sizing die, powder dies, seating die and crimp die. Loaded a dummy round to see if it fits and functions in my Remington. It chambers fine, but won't extract. It's not stuck, it just won't get under the extractor claw. If I rotate the barrels up, the round comes sliding out, if I tilt the rifle back down, it slides nicely into the chamber. The rifle doesn't do this with factory loads, so what have I done wrong? EricW
Whose sizing die? Sounds like you need to back out the die a bit. You're pushing the shoulder too far back.
D.Hayden
I was wondering if you sized the case too small... Do you have a case gauge?
38supPat
Not yet, looks like I'll be ordering one. How do you set the die correctly on a Dillon so as not to push the shoulder back?
D.Hayden
Rifle dies... I set by adjusting the die down, until it gauges at the right place n the gauge. There's a .003" area on the headstamp side, that it should fall in between.
38supPat
I've got a gage on order, but for now I backed the die off, then slowly turned it down until it touched the case Then I sized a case, checked it in the rifle, turned the die down a bit more and continued until the bolt closed with ease, then backed it off a quarter turn.
