KentG
Im not sure where to post this one so I will start here. All things being equal what is the greatest atmospheric influance on velocity for ammo? Im specificly looking at rifle ammo but Im sure the rules apply across the board. What is a bigger drag on speed?? Temp? Humidity? Feet above sea level? Is there calculation to use if I know the current atmospheric conditions to project how an ammo will perform in other temps or other conditions if I have a good baseline?? 3GunF1Guy
Humidity is almost irrelevant. Temp and Barometric pressure are the two thing that determine how many atom/molecules that the bullet is impacting and slowing the bullet down. The elevation is only a reference on the barometric pressure or a way to guesstimate the barometric pressure and air density. Scott
LPatterson
The biggest factor is the chronograph. At a recent match, 2 chrono's were reading as much as 50FPS different on some shots but next shot only 25FPS. 2 chronos back to back in a box with IR screens.
