Corbin Hydro-Press

The press I saw years ago was cooler than hell. I don't know if they work the same now than they did in 1990 but the lead was super cheap...I don't know what the copper costs now but back then it amounted to something like 2 cents a bullet.

Does anyone have any experience with the Corbin Hydro-Press? If the machine was paid off, can you make bullets for less than today's retail cost?

The calibers I'm interested in making are:

.40

.355

.45

.223 rem

Thanks,

Darren

Pricing info is there on Corbin's website. Check here too;

I don't think you will save much money. Don't forget this will be a multi step operation. Think like a single stage press. A hundred bullets may take several hours.

I make my own 45 bullets and I just have to say that it is not cheaper to make them yourself. This is something that is labor intensive and it will take me 4 hours just to make 200 bullets. Copper prices are climbing fast, with lead right behind. I only do it because it's a lot of fun and I have a stash of free lead.

If you want to save money, go with the high volume guys who make bullets for a living.

Back on mute. :ph34r:
