mgcchkn
I didn't see anywhere in the rules about only being able to shoot the rifle you start the competition with. If it's in there, I missed it. So, is it possible to bring along multiple rifles for different scenarios? Short range rifle, long range rifle, combo rifle? Or can you only use one for the whole event? Sorry for all the newb questions, but we all started some where. Thanks!
benny hill
NO. You have to use the same rifle throughout unless it breaks & then can be replaced with an exact one like it only.
bigbrowndog
I don't know where it is in USPSA rules, but IMGA rules states the rifle must be the same configuration and you must attain the match directors approval to change. Trapr
mgcchkn
wow, I guess I'm blind. I just went back and looked through the rules again. it's rule MG 5.1.7. benny's right.
uscbigdawg
mgcchkn, That's a standard rule in USPSA/IPSC and good find in the MG rules. There was one incident that I know of in '04 where a shooter was doing exactly what you suggested and he knew it was wrong. Got caught and DQ'ed. SinistralRifleman
The one exception is if you are in Trooper class at one of the matches that offers it....you can reconfigure it so long as all the gear you use was carried with you for the duration of the match. walangkatapat
NO. You have to use the same rifle throughout unless it breaks & then can be replaced with an exact one like it only. What if the replacement rifle gives you less advantage, i.e. shorter sight radius?
Larry White
NO. You have to use the same rifle throughout unless it breaks & then can be replaced with an exact one like it only. What if the replacement rifle gives you less advantage, i.e. shorter sight radius? If you can show that the rifle you started with is unserviceable and the RM agrees you can change. Advantage or disadvantage the rule is the same. But the key is that the RM has to agree.----------Larry
