Hog Sniper
Looking to pick up some bullets to reload. What do you think of the Rainiers compared to Berrys, or say Winchesters?? I looking at the 45 ACP 230 Grain RN. THanks Gary

shadetree
I have not used the others. I use the raniers because they are cheap and local. I have had no problems with them.
Nemo
I think that's what Master Carmoney uses.
Carmoney
Both Carmoneys have been shooting Rainiers for the past year and a half. Before that we used plain ol' cast lead. I like the plated bullets, but have no particular loyalty to Rainiers, if Berrys or West Coast were cheaper, we'd probably be shooting those instead! wlktheduk
This will be my 3rd year using Rainiers. I used the 200 grain SWC's for a year, but had reliability issues in my automatics. My fault, not the bullet, bad combination of OAL and crimp. For the last two years I've used the 230 grain round nose Rainiers, mostly in my S&W 625 revolver, with good results. Like Master Carmoney, I use the Rainiers, but not out of brand loyalty, but due to overall price (bullet price plus shipping)
professor
I'm using the .38 cal 158 gr Raniers because of the reloading advantage of the round noses. Also, they shoot very clean compared to any of the RNL I'd been using. Couldn't find a source of moly-coated RNL in that cal and weight. To avoid tearing the plating during loading, use a separate seating die followed by roll crimping die.
