nheiny13
I have a couple questions for those of you who have used Silica Carbide and Epoxy to make a grip. What grit carbide did you use? Did you apply the epoxy then sprinkle the carbide, or mix the two together then apply? Thank for your help. Loves2Shoot
Alumimum oxide powder (Brownells). Epoxy first, sprinkle on the grit.
.40AET
I used epoxy and the first mix didn't have quite enough hardener. It quickly peeled in the heat during use. When I redo it, I'm going to try marine resin for fiberglass. It's almost bullet proof. Make sure to remove the tape as soon as your done sprinkling. If the epoxy sets up the tape is tough to get off.
Bigbadaboom
I use silica sand from an arts & crafts store and "Lok-Tite" 5 min epoxy. I pour the sand into a bowl and then I spread the Epoxy all over the grip, after masking it properly of course. I then dunk the grip into the sand and spread it until I get good coverage.
