Wrist Injury

So today I had my 12 week post-op appointment with the doc for follow up on my discectomy at L5-S1. Back is doing fine. However, I asked him about some pain in my left wrist that started during a heavy workout on July 4th.

He has me do a few passive resistance things and diagnoses a Triangular Fibrocartilage Complex Injury, and says I need to get seen by a ortho that specializes in hand/shoulder stuff.

I get back to work and googlefu this TFCC thing, and that just sucks. I can't get in to see a specialist before August 3rd. I'm gonna have to go to the ER or Urgent Care tomorrow AM because I don't want this getting worse.

Anyone have experience with this injury? My google research is leading me to think I'll be shooting strong-hand only for 6+ weeks. :(:(:(

PATIENT: "Doc.... it started hurting when I did this..."

DOC: "Why don't you stop doing that?"

Not sure how old you are, but your body may be telling you that the age of heavy workouts is behind you now.... when you reach dinosaur age, everything gets easy to injure.

BTW, I messed up my wrists just doing push ups.... because of the stress it puts on the bent wrist. Now I do them on my knuckles with bent knees to reduce the stress. I also got horrible tendonitis in my right shoulder just from my "normal" light workout.

If you get hurt doing an excercise..... need to find a different one to do.
