Frank79
Whats better for competition a tactical thigh holster of a conventional waist one? Or is it one of these personal preference things? Same goes with mag holders. Whats a good style?
tightloop
Frank \What division are you shooting...if production, get a kydex holster on the belt, leave the tactical stuff alone...same for the mag holders...just my thoughts
dirtypool40
Thigh rigs, although shiek, and tacti-kewl have limited application.
kruger
What are you planning on doing? The job dictates the equipment. AFAIK, the reasons to use a thigh rig are not speed and ease of use related. The thigh rig is useful if you don't have space on your belt or you need access while seated and plan on remaining seated while using the pistol. The optimal magazine carrier depends on what you are doing... Respectfully, Mark Kruger
Frank79
i'd be shooting in the production class. So then my question turns to what type of belt holster is the best?
AustinMike
If you're just getting started, Uncle Mike's Kydex is a cheap way to go and works fine. I'm using their holster and mag holders for Production. Paid about $15 each for the holster and two dual-mag holders. Good 'nuf for me so far. Just use blue loctite on the screws to avoid a trip to Home Depot when they loosen and fall out of the mag holders.
Bigbadaboom
i'd be shooting in the production class. So then my question turns to what type of belt holster is the best? Then you can't use a thigh holster unless you're active L.E. or Military and it's your "Duty Rig" (See rule 5.2.7.2). I recommend a CR Speed belt, Blade-Tech Dropped/Off-set Holster and CR Speed or Safariland 771 mag pouches.
