hdgun
This is for a friend, He has a SV with all the toys, bells and wistles. including AET barrel. He tells me,when putting in a new Aftec the tip of the extractor hits the barrel and will not go full into battery. So does he trim the tip of the extractor or do you relieve the barrel to acomidate or a combination of the two. Please, He needs help. Thanks for any input. Scout454
I relieved the barrel on both my open gun and my limited gun. Modifying an Aftec voids that warrenty.
hdgun
To be honest, When installing an extractor in any gun I have worked on (my guns), I have done the same. Not really knowing if it was right or wrong, But it does work. Just wanted to get a pro's opinion.
Caspian_45
Usually I modify the cheaper part. But in this case I would modify the barrrel. I have had this same problem several times with extractors. I use a milling machine to make the cut look goooood.

sandankenpo
I always trim the extractor, it is normally only a few 1000ths
BEDELLCUSTOM
i prefer to machine a small clearance notch in the barrel, that way if you break an extractor at a match and need to put another one in you won't have to try to file or grind the end of another extractor to make it fit.
