Done right, it would just stabilize the dot so it'll track up and down with minimal wiggling side to side (all other factors play as well and the side ports may or may not have that much effect). As for our local setting where TMJ/FMJ heads are very, very expensive and we're forced to use lead in one coating or another, that setup in the pic would make the comp very hard to clean. The exact same thing can be said about full profile comps ... they tend to feel softer and flatter because of all the weight out at the end of the barrel, even if the extra "under porting" does nothing.
