BigDave
Can you use SP primers in 38 Super rounds loaded for minor PF (~125 gr @ ~1000 fps)? The powders in question would be something fast like HP38, Titegroup, N320, etc. Or... ...do you always use SR primers when loaded 38 Super regardless of PF? Flexmoney
There is nothing saying (besides pressure indications) that you have to use SR in Super in the first place. Though, it is a common practice, likely for good reason. SP should be fine and dandy for minor loads...I think I would prefer SP, even.
Larry White
Dave,SP would work well in those loads. SR are really only needed in major loads in open pistols with large charges of slow powder. A lot of people dont even use SR for those loads. And a lot of people only use them so they only need to keep one type of primer on hand.------Larry Edited October 13, 2005 by lkytx
DougCarden
I have been told that you can get breechface erosion by using SRP and light loads since they wont seal up as well as SPP. FWIW, DougC
BigDave
Thanks, guys. Since I'm a one caliber (40) and one primer (WSP) type of guy it sounds like I can just carry on. I just wasn't sure if 38 Super was one of those, "no, you always do X", situations.
