IMR Blue Flash Properties

Has anyone tried IMR Blue? I was wondering if it was low flash or of it is like blue dot.

I sent an e-mail to IMR and their response was that all their powders have some form of flash inhibitors and that they don't do comparisons to other powders. Not very helpful.

Thanks in advance,

David

Well, they did say it had flash suppressors in the formulation.

Most won't discuss competitor's products.

While what he said may be true, what I was looking for was the intent. Some powders are formulated to be low flash like Accurate #5, 7, 9, or BE-86, etc. Then you have some like True Blue that aren't real flashy (a good thing), but aren't sold as being low flash.

I loaded some power pistol up in my 2-5/8" 627 in 357 mag and the white flash was about 12" in diameter.

I ordered some IMR blue so I will report back in a few weeks after I run it. The price was too good to pass up.

You probably already know by now - Power Pistol is one of the most flashy pistol powders we can get, along with Blue Dot, 2400, and H110/296. I like Power Pistol for some things, but a shorty  357 defensive gun isn't one of them.

I'd be interested to hear your results with Blue. Low flash is very desirable sometimes.
