hotshot357
I'm planning on loading .30-30 Winchester this winter. I've got a 550B with Lee dies set-up. I'm relatively new to reloading( started in 2016). I was wondering what else I need to reload .30-30. So far I've saved all the cases to be reloaded. From what I understand, I will need a case trimmer. Is there anything else I will need? Any information will be greatly appreciated!
dillon
You'll need case lube, as this is a bottleneck case. Cases typically require trimming every 2 or 3 firings. If you're shooting the rounds from a lever action, it may require more frequent trimming due to the bolt lockup design. A case mouth chamfering tool is important. 30-30 cases have a long neck, and are relatively soft. Deburring and chamfering the inside of the case mouth will prevent collapsing the shoulder if seating flat based bullets. Overall, 30-30 is an easy cartridge to load. If you have any questions during setup, please contact us directly.
DubfromGA
Mighty fun round to shoot. Brings back a lot of great memories. One of these days I believe I'll be adding a 30-30 to my meager collection. Started hunting as a kid borrowing one from my uncle.
hotshot357
DubfromGA, you are right about that!! Every time I go to the range, I take the "94" and send some lead down range. It's "a hoot-to shoot"!!!! Edited July 30, 2019 by hotshot357
