SF1911
Maybe this has already been answered somewhere, I just couldn't find anything too definitive. I have a SP01 MS that I'm going to experiment with a 11/12 lb recoil spring, and was wondering if a buffer is the way to go for something like long term frame health. I was also wondering if the stock delrin guide rod can be used and what kind of buffers to use and where to get them. Thanks
BeerBaron
The stock delrin guiderod is fine. I don’t see any need for a buffer. I have shot many 10s of thousands without one.
SF1911
Was your shooting with the stock spring or something lighter?
rowdyb
I have a lot of rounds through the SP01 frames, accu and regular shadow. Mostly with ss guide rods and 11# recoil springs. When the Shadow 2 came out and it shipped with thick and thin buffers I tried them both in my old sp01 guns. The thick caused short stroking problems. The thin felt nice and worked well but would quickly get pretty well deformed and start to not feel as nice in the gun. So I stopped running them in the older framed guns. I do still use the thick one in my Shadow 2 guns.
