sti mag followers

I need to replace some springs and followers in my tubes.  I prefer to go to slide lock on an empty chamber.  

 

I think Im sticking with STI guts because of my slide lock preference.  Ive reached out to some vendors and was told pretty much all after market followers will require modification to go to slide lock on an empty chamber.  If there is an option, please share.

 

Also by chance are gen 1 and gen 2 followers for 9mm inter changeable between different gen tubes? Wouldnt expect it, but you never know.

I used the STI gen2 follower in a MBX spring and tube to utilize the slide lock feature - I just had to bend the MBX spring at the top to fit the follower. 

 

STI Gen1 and Gen2 followers are different but I am not sure where - it might just be how the spring sits with the follower and can bend it to the correct shape. Dawson Precision had both gen followers on their site a few months ago but I dont see gen2 now - maybe you can contact them

Taran Tactical followers will lock the slide back with 1 round in the mag, no big deal, it takes less than 5 minutes to fit them to your gun with a 1/4 inch rotary file in a drill
