ClangClang
I've been collecting my brass for a couple years from the range, telling myself that one day I'm going to start reloading. Well, that day hasn't arrived and I'm about to move, and I have a kitty litter bucket packed to the brim with mostly .223, some 9mm, a bit of .40, and .45, and a very small smattering of .357 and other less common calibers. It weighs 70 lbs. None of the brass has been tumbled, deprimed, or anything. I'd like to sell the bucket instead of moving it. Can anyone tell me what this should be roughly worth sold on my local shooting board for a cash pickup? It's all brass, no steel, no russian ammo, all were factory new casings. oteroman
For a fast sale take it to a recycler. No headache dealing with selling it. Local recycler pays $1.83 a pound. If you clean it and find a buyer for all the calibers you are talking more than one buyer (hassle), in theory you can make 40%-60% more. schaet
I agree with oteroman, but for reference I pay $20/1000 for cleaned (tumbled) brass. I believe a 5 gal bucket holds somewhere around 5000.
