John Heiter
I don't know how I do it but I seem to go through front sight's about two or three times a year. I've got all the traditional tools for changing them out like brass and nylon drift punches, bench vises, vise jaw pads, etc. and I've gotten fairly good at changing them out but there has to be a better way. Why can't I find a simple portable tool like the Glock sight installation tool that I can throw in my bag and take with me to the range so I can install a sight, make slight windage adjustments, etc. for my 1911? I like the design of the Kimber tool that Brownells carries but I have no idea why something like that should cost more than a Dillon 550. Any suggestions? Crusher
What happens to the sights that you need to replace them so often? I did once BASH one of my Ltd. gun front sights on a door handle while holstered, bad "spatial concept" day for me, cuased the "Leaning Tower Effect". I had to change it out, but I have never worn them out and when they get too shiney (blueing wear) I just sight black them out again and again
Flexmoney
I'd have to think that something could be made from a cheap arbor press from the likes of Harbor Freight?
scooterj
John, didn't you admit that you don't use the front sight (much) in Amite a couple weeks ago?
John Heiter
I've never worried about it from a shooting standpoint but I would like to have one up there and somewhat in line with the bore...you know, just to keep up the resale value and stuff.
