Need 147gr. Gold Dot Powder Recommendation

Hey Guys,

I have about 5k 9x19 rounds I want to load up using the following components.

5k 147g. Speer Gold Dots

5k Starline new brass

5k CCI 550 (Small pistol magnum) primers

I am looking to duplicate the 147gr. +P factory load I get out of my stock G19. which run about 1025 FPS.

I am looking for a powder and/or load recommendation that will get me to 1025 fps with minimum flash/muzzle blast.

I have been handloading for about 30 years so understand the concept of start low and work up.

Thank You in advance for your assistance.

Blue Dot, Green Dot, HS-6, or Power Pistol are great for high velocity self defense loads.

Green Dot under a 124gr JHP can make for some smoking hot loads and it’s widely avaialable... with 147s it looks like BlueDot is more ideal for a hot round that is not +P pressure territory.

Go to handloads.com and choose 9mm, 147gr. Easy way to look up both factory data and those submitted by users:

5.1gr of N350.  I get 1050fps out of my CZ P10C with zero muzzle flash and mild recoil.   I use that powder charge with a 147gr HST at 1.125" and a CCI magnum small pistol primer.

Not exact same bullet. But close. And Power Pistol doesn’t meet your low flash requirements, but it delivers on its name for sure.

COUPLE CAVEATS!!!!

Take the AA No 7 and Power Pistol chrono data with grain of salt. These are book loads, but are definitely +P+ loads.

I chrono’d these the other day, and I think the extreme AZ sun was monkeying with the chrono results. I don’t think there is any way these were going 1200+ FPS out of a G19 and Shield. I loaded up some more and will retest when I get a chance. It’s so stinking hot here right now, not sure when that will be.

Subjectively, the PP and AA No7 loads felt HOT! No blown or flat primers, but it’s as hot as I’d want to go. I’m sure they were well north of 1000 FPS and reaching towards 1100 FPS even in 4.5” and 3.5” barreled guns.

I adjusted the chrono and believe the Unique data to be accurate. The G34 has a threaded Lonewolf barrel, so on top of being a longer barrel anyway, the LW barrel adds another 3/4” inch or so.

These were all loaded in new Starline brass, with CCI 500 primers. Each change was individually thrown from a Lyman Gen 6 .
