Flatland Shooter
Has anyone tried one of these? Can you give us a quick review? http://www.apfarmory.com/9mm-16-1-10-twist-barrel/ Looking at the website I saw the weight at 1 pound. Contacted the company and they quickly responded to my questions. It is a true 1# barrel (not estimated) and is chambered to SAMI specs. Since the barrel is SS it should be no problem throating if necessary. In their response they also advised they make one already ported with 13.5" of rifling and a machined in comp extending the barrel to 16". http://www.apfarmory.com/9mm-competition-barrel/ The comp brings the weight up to 1.2#. Alex Pro Firearms also sells complete guns and lots of parts. I'm getting the itch to build another upper and would like input before ordering. Thanks. Link to comment
MikieM
I can't imagine a SS barrel coming in that light. Even with a pencil profile. A comped version at slightly over 19 ounces is just as amazing. Link to comment
Flatland Shooter
I thought the same thing. I know folks like AirCooledRacer slimmed down a 16" barrel or two and don't remember any of them getting that light. That's why I verified the weight with the vendor. Link to comment
Aircooled6racer
Hello: It will have to be pretty small in diameter to be just 1 pound and 16" in length. I am thinking in the 1/2" diameter range if it is 416 stainless steel. I have gone for the balanced weight over the ultra light weight now. Thanks, Eric Link to comment
Flatland Shooter
That's why I would probably start with the basic 16" barrel and first add a thread protector. Then as needed go with progressively heavier comps until I get it to my liking. Website says its 416 SS. Edited April 16, 2018 by Flatland Shooter Link to comment
