zzt
I just bought four of these mags without trying them first. I love their 8-round ETM mags, so I figured these would work as well. Nope. First off they sit lower in the gun than the 8-round ETMs and lower than the Wilson 47D 10-rounders. I can put an EGW .020" higher shelf mag catch it and they work better, but then the other mags won't seat. The other problem is the springs are tooo strong- much stronger than the 8-round springs. Even after conditioning the springs by keeping the mags fully loaded for a week, they don't weaken enough to feed the top round reliably. If you start with an locked back slide, the first round nose dives and jams on the back of the ramp. BTW, they function perfectly in a Les Baer and a SA Loaded, just not in my STI 1911 frame. matteekay
THat's so odd. Do you think it's an issue with the feed lips? Or is the catch hole a little too low?
zzt
All four feed lips measure the same, and they are brand new, never been dropped, etc. I think it is a combination of a lower catch slot in the mags and an out of spec hole in the STI. BlueBulletBeaker
I don't eve see the original 10 round mags on the Wilson Combat store anymore. They all have big plastic base pads now. I haven't tried the new ones, but at a glance, I imagine I'll still like the old ones better.
