Dwampler22
Hey guys I have an infinity slide on a custom open gun I bought used. Regardless 8,000 rds in i head a clunk while cleaning the slide, come to find out the breach face was loose and the reason I didn't notice it earlier was due to the firing pin holding the breach face screw with a little tension when it was fully together. Once I removed the firing pin, it very clear there was foward and rear ward slop in the removable breach face. Took it apart and cleaned the threads, firing pin tunnel, slide face, extractor tunnel after removing the extractor... I then put it back together (with out the extractor, and with out loctite) just wanted to see what I was dealing with before I when on with it. After assembling and snugging up the breach face screw/beach face there was still a significant amount of slop in the breach face... so I ordered a new 9-L breach face from infinity and screw. Installed it today when I got home and still had the same amount of slop. Looks like the hole in the slide it's self is wallered/worn out a little.... so efff me.. my only other option is to try and tap the removable breach and make the threads go a little deeper in the breachface in hopes to snug up the screw to the slide. (In the removable breach face there is still room to go a little deeper. I do not know why infinity use a tapper tap vs using a flat bottom tap and going all the way to the firing pin hole. I'm sure they didn't expect the slide hole to Waller out..) do any of you guys know what thread pitch a removable breach face screw is for an infinity slide? Thanks guys, this is my attempt so save my self 1500$ in fitting a new slide with cuts and all the bells and whistles.
B45C22
Why don't you give them a call and ask? I have heard plenty of stories about them taking care of stuff like this free of charge as long as some other smith hasn't buggered something up. Fowlmouths
David, According to SVI website it is a 10-32 thread. I would think that it might require a plunge cut to square up the surface on the slide that the breachface screw clamps against. You can read more under the technical tab on Infinity Website. Good luck.

Once again guys thanks After reading that did you check how many threads were showing with the screw installed in the slide? Then remove the screw and count how many turns into the breachface before it bottoms. Did you try SVI's suggestion about using a brass punch to seat the breachface into the slide before you try tightening the screw? Good luck trying to tap the breachface, its HARD. BeerBaron
Yeah I was thinking the same thing. The breaches are super hard.
Dwampler22
I tapped it and also took 2 treads off the screw allowing it to go deeper. Breach face then tightened up. Also the slide/ breach face is loose fitting so it actually just slipped right on no issues.... probably not a good thing. Lol so right now it's in and tight.. let's see how long this last.
