old shooter
Yesterday around noon, we lost a great marine. He could have been a recruitment posterchild. He server 23 years for us. As a skilled bass fisherman, he could both find them didn't mind telling others where to find them as well. He is the only person that has a spot named after him in Florida's Lake Okachobee. Joe Moore's Hole. He could have turned pro golfer in his earlier years, but instead liked playing with his money aginst your money. He was also able to tell a story with the best of them, and as will happen, slightly embellish it with each telling. He had the greatest moral compass that I have known in a man, and as a result, relied on his instints instead of what is politically correct. In children, this often resulted in the application of a belt. In an adult, this often resulted in the delivery of a belt...He was a character, and icon in the best sence. Bye Dad, I love you. bountyhunter
Really sorry to hear about your loss. The Marines seem to be taking most of the heavy fighting in Iraq. The main force seems to be the ones out of Camp pendleton (near San Diego) and so many of those Marines came from around here in northern California. During the big offenses like fallujah we were seeing their biograhies every night on the local news for the KIA's. Rest in peace.
