recoilchamp
I mounted a Vortex Viper red dot to my M&P and noticed that on anything but full brightness, I can catch a flicker as I transition across the room, like its refresh rate is really low. I've also got a Burris FF3 and it's nowhere near as bad, it reads more as a streak. I do like the lower profile of the viper, though, and its dot is more red than the orange of the FF3. Not sure if it bothers me yet, but does anyone else see the same thing on their viper? The picture below indicates the effect.

RRWW
My viper does not act like that. I would send it in. They had me a new one in about a week.
Mully383
Mine did the same thing.... The glass also came loose though.... Haven't had a chance to get on it with vortex. Haven't been real impressed with it so far. It did work great on my 22/45 but it lasted about 25 rnds on a g19
recoilchamp
Got a second vortex viper and can confirm it also had the low refresh rate for everything but the highest brightness. Not sure yet if it bothers me yet, but it's definitely something I don't see with the burris fastfire.
Garmil
I have one that I don't notice that on at all.
Mully383
I got the new optic back.... still a low refresh rate but more importantly it's adjusted all the way down and still isn't sighted in. About 6 inches off at 10 yards. Real frustrating for sure.
RRWW
My first one had a "frozen" elevation adjustment had to be replaced. Same symptoms as your having. No refresh problems with either. I think QC is pretty poor. The replacement worked. I have since bought a RMR and havent looked back.
recoilchamp
Got the new Venom 6 MOA to compare, and it doesn't have the flicker issue, but it's dot isn't as true red as the Viper is. Not sure which I prefer yet, here's my comparison:
