JAF1680
I have never seen this happen before. The barrel had no damage but the choke tube was caved in from peaces of wad building up between the barrel and choke. The choke had worked its way loose and allowed a gap between the barrel and choke large enough to collect plastic from passing wads. Has anyone else seen this happen? Postal Bob
I had this happen in a new Mossberg 500. The choke tube bent in enough that you couldn't push a cleaning swab through. One more shot, and it probably would've blown the end of the barrel open. But the problem wasn't a loose choke tube. The barrel was slightly out of round, almost oval shaped at the muzzle end. I measured it with calibers and saw the difference at various spots. So, it created a slight gap between the choke tube and barrel, where wad and pressures eventually bent it inward. Sent the barrel to Mossberg, and they replaced it for free.

WhiteDingo
Had one recently that split a barrel on a customer's SBE doing just that; wad collected under a loose choke and a few heavy waterfowl loads later..... pop. A trip to Briley to shorten and re thread for Crio chokes, and ready to go
