Hornady Custom Decap Die holding onto primers

How do you keep the decapping pin from holding onto primers? I put about 1000 rounds through it assuming that it would eventually "wear in" and the issues would go away, but they haven't. Now that I've upped my game to a fancy blue 650, I'm more concerned with primers not letting go. Any tips/tricks to make this die punch out primers and not embrace them?

I don't know about that exact die but I have that same problem when my decapping pin gets the point mushroomed, it will hold the primer like your saying. To fix it I just file a 45 degree point back on it. I can do it about 4 or 5 times then I have to replace it because it will be too short.

I put mine in a drill and chamfered the end with a file. Problem solved.

I put a 45 on mine, but yours also sticks out of the die further than mine, I'll try lowering it too.

I put a drop of oil on the tip of the pin which kept the primers from sticking while depriming.

For the Lee universal die, I replaced the decapping rod with a Squirreldaddy one from Ebay. Works much better. Not sure you can do that with the Hornady though.

Different brand, but same issue. I grab the dremel and grind those sticky bastards to a point.
