jrswanson1
I have a used Ruger MK II with a red-dot that I'm running for Steel Challenge. As of now, I only added the red-dot, it's stock otherwise. What's the hot mods setup for these for Steel Challenge?
scottlep
Volquartsen accurizing kit, Tandemkross Victory trigger, Tandemkross LCI filler, Tandemkross comp if you have a threaded barrel. This will give you a sweet trigger in the 2-3lb range and the comp really is effective for muzzle rise.
BeerBaron
I run a mk3 22/45 lite. I have a few of the normal convenience type mods I run on my centrefire IPSC type open guns: Majestic arms bolt racker Rimedge thumb rest Rimedge low profile cmore mount with cmore slideride with 8moa dot Tacsol comp (will be trying my rimedge and tandemkross comp soon) As far as the ruger specific stuff I run: Volquartsen trigger with pre and over travel adjustment (tandemkross make a cool one now too, was not out when I did mine) Volquartsen target sear Volquartsen comp hammer Volquartsen trigger plunger and lighter plunger/return spring Volquartsen mk2 type hammer bushing Polished disconector/trigger bar (will probably get the vq one at some point but polishing did help) Tactical solutions extractor and extractor spring Tandemkross tool steel firing pin Tandemkross LCI filler plate Houge finger groove grips Volquartsen hammer spring (would not reccomend as its a bit of a bastard to change for no discernible difference) Tandemkross mag base extensions (really make seating mags easy on the 22/45) Trigger is very nice at around 2lb. Very short and crisp. Most importantly the gun is super reliable. I went a bit all out as I enjoy modding my toys but if you're more sensible or on a budget I'd highly recommend: Vq sear and hammer (though the sear alone gets you 80% of the improvement) A trigger either vq or tk Extractor tk, vq or tacsol (a decent extractor helps reliability in ejection and feeding) Firing pin either vq or tk If you do get the vq hammer get their bushing too as they fit well together removing play/friction from the trigger system. I do like my racker and thumbrest etc but they are personal preference bits. Rimedge make a nice magwell too but since there's no on the clock reloads in sc I went without. I like having it similar to my main 2011 and other open guns (same optic, thumb rest etc). Some pics including one of its big brothers.
