FTP_Shooting_Sports
Does anyone have a Czechmate with the new barrel design (extra material where slide stop goes through)? If so, could you please post a picture here so I can see if CZ had to machine where the guide rod sits. It appears the new tapered design does not allow the guide rod to sit parallel to the barrel when in battery and my gunsmith believes a slot needs to be cut. CZ doesn't have one in Inventory to look at. Thanks!

FTP_Shooting_Sports
http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=225742 Unfortunately this thread is missing a view of where the guide rod rests on the barrel. I wanted to see if a new style barrel fitted by CZ has any cuts in the spot where the guide rod rests.

FTP_Shooting_Sports
Radius.JPG Thanks! Have you run this barrel in your gun? I have a replacement barrel with the new design and discovered that the slide does not go fully into battery as the guide rod is binding on the tapered portion of the barrel. CZ says a relief needs to be machined to allow the guide rod to sit parallel to barrel in battery. It doesn't appear yours has anything machined into it. busdriver02
That's the spare barrel that came with, it hasn't been in the gun but it's supposedly pre-fit. You can see some machine marks in the radius portion of the barrel however, they run from just next to the notch all the way to the actual barrel. It looks like they used a relatively large diameter cutter to fit the radius. From other pictures I've seen there doesn't actually appear to be substantially more material, rather the redesign is the large radius to reduce stress risers. CZ85Combat
The relief is a flat on the guide rod not the barrel. look at post #18 http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=218043&hl=czechmate#entry2457468 Edited February 4, 2016 by CZ85Combat
busdriver02
Fairly normal to bevel a 1911 guide rod. Don't know why that didn't occur to me. Back to the old "always file on the cheaper part" truism.
FTP_Shooting_Sports
CZ told me they evaluated both modifying the guide rod and modifying the barrel and decided it would be better to modify the barrel. I have yet to see evidence of one of these in the wild though. Can anyone who received a Czechmate with the new barrel design verify if they have modified the guide rod or barrel? CZ85Combat
whats the build date of your Czechmate?
FTP_Shooting_Sports
whats the build date of your Czechmate? I have two. One is 2012 and I believe the other one is 2010ish. CZ told me they put the new barrel design into production in the past year but I know for a fact that many of the old barrel designs were still shipping. busdriver02
The picture I posted is from a gun I got two months ago. The guide rod does not have a bevel. Don't know if that helps or not.

FTP_Shooting_Sports
I had the gunsmith machine away space for the guide rod head on the barrel. He removed the minimal amount of material possible.
