Northern Xtreme
I was thinking of switching over to 230 grain bullets for Limited 10 IPSC. Last year I shot 185 grain Zero JHP's at 173 power factor and a 14 lb recoil spring. I have heard that the same power factor with 230 grain bullets feels softer. Could anyone please share their loads for 230 grain FMJ's and Cast bullets and what weight spring you run so I can get a starting point for my Kimber 1911? robomanusa
I shoot 230gr fmj zero's at 170 pf from my 5" 625 using titegroup, I am very happy with how they feel. 4.6gr titegroup at 1.260 gives me 740fps from MY gun.
AikiDale
The sweet load for .45 is 4.0 grains of Clays with a 230gr at 1.2 OAL
revchuck
This is heavier than you want, but just FYI, 4.8 grains of Titegroup under a 230 RNL (1.245" OAL) gave 796 fps from my Commander. I use an 18 lb. ISMI recoil spring.
lmccrock
I am just working up a load with 230gr Billy bullets (RNL with moly coat). Right now it is 4.2 gr Titegroup which gives 760 fps. I tried a few 4.1 gr rounds, but there were chrono problems so I only got 2 good shots at that weight (710 and 739 fps). Not sure about accuracy (didn't hit the chrono!). Also tried 4.3 gr = 782 fps average. I loaded some more of the 4.2 gr load; I will try them again to check accuracy. Very mixed brass, Remington 2 1/2 primers, Para P14-45. Gun was very dirty after just 15 rounds. I mean, dirty relative to the W231 which I shot for several years. Lee
